Amazing Health Benefits of Walking in the Woods

Did you know the Japanese have a word for “forest bathing”? It is shinrin-yoku. As you can imagine from the translation, it just means losing yourself in the forest while enjoying the air, the scents, the vegetation and the sounds of birds and animals that live there. But did you know that there are some amazing health benefits as well? Apart from the obvious ones like getting fresh air and exercise, there are studies that show that a walk in the forest or a park with lots of trees may be the healthiest thing you can do.

    1. It may help prevent cancer.
    2. Scents of the forest may reduce stress.
    3. It may help with depression.
    4. 4. It can make your brain work better. Walking through a forest or green area with trees has been found to aid memory and learning.
    5. A forest walk can help lower blood pressure.

Enjoy your time in the forest!

Inverness Falls is the right spot for some positive effects from Negative Ions

Our nephew Chad Cornell, Master Herbalist who has Hollow Reed School of Healing Arts and Herbals in Winnipeg was telling us about the positive effects of Negative Ions. It’s hard to think of anything called Negative being positive for us.

I did some further investigation and learned, “Negative Ions reduce irritability, depression, tensions and increases calmness. Negative ion exposure appeared associated with feeling better about self, less sensitive and more responsive and energized.

High levels of Negative ions are found at the beach, in the country, in pine forests, near waterfalls,– all the places that we feel good after we visit them…. And we have them all right here!

Every time we draw a breath Ions fill our lungs and are carried by the blood to our body cells. What a great excuse to go for a walk along the stream, enjoy a shady spot under a Pine tree; and breath deeeeeeeeeep!

A Shower is natural ionizer. Research has shown that falling water creates thousands of negative ions by splitting other neutral partials of air, freeing electrons.

Hope you enjoy the Rain Showers!
